The objectives of this program are to introduce the students to the study of tropical biodiversity/natural history, tropical ecology, and conservation biology.

This semester abroad program includes 35 hours of formal lectures in the classroom for each of the 4 core courses (1- Costa Rican Natural History; 2- Tropical Ecology; 3- Biological Diversity and Conservation; and 4- Spanish).

The program also includes a rigorous field section in tropical ecology and conservation biology. This unique program will give the students the opportunity to perform field experiments in situ in many different tropical habitats within Costa Rica.

All courses, except Spanish, will be taught in English. The Spanish course will be intensive and combined with the family home-stay, will provide the students with the language proficiency to communicate effectively.
